The downhill eleventh
at first glance appears to be a rather docile,
medium length par five. In reality, the hole’s
nine bunkers are precisely positioned to form
one of the most interesting strategies on the
golf course.
The three fairway
bunkers on the left guard the best position to
play to the green. The second shot must be threaded
through a barrage of bunkers, which guard the
best angle to approach the putting surface. The
green, a slight diagonal to the left, is raised
in front and back forming a “funnel”
which also slopes gently away.
While this par
five can be reached in two shots by the long hitters,
it will require steady nerves and precise execution
to negotiate the numerous hazards.
