The sixteenth hole bends
slightly to the right around a sandy wash. The par five
hole will play much shorter than its measured distance
since it moves downhill almost 65 feet.
The tee shot landing
area slopes from left to right and a group of boulders
encompass the left rough. There is also a strategic
fairway bunker right, which marks the ideal position
to play at the green. A well positioned tee shot will
allow the better players to go for the green in two
shots. However, the green has been positioned around
a deep, clear lake, causing even the best of players
to carefully consider their options. Second shots which
are played short of the green must negotiate the lake
left and two fairway bunkers right.
This type of hole, sometimes
referred to as a “swing hole” will create
a good deal of drama when future tournament events are
played at the course.
