LIV Golf League: A Modern Take on Professional Golf

LIV Golf was founded in 2021 and is run by CEO Greg Norman, World Golf Hall of Famer and former world No. 1 golfer. Norman envisions a new type of golf with a one-of-a-kind format — a cutting-edge and compelling competition among 48 top-ranked players and 12 established teams. LIV Golf’s name is derived from the Roman numeral for 54 or the perfect “18-hole score” on a traditional par 72 course.

At LIV Golf League events, fans will have the chance to cheer on their favorite players and teams. LIV Golf League innovated the fan experience by instituting fewer rounds, shorter playing windows, smaller fields, and only three rounds of tournament play, equaling 54 holes. Shotgun starts and no cuts increase the speed of play.

The 2023 season kicked off at LIV Golf Mayakoba at the El Camaleón Golf Course in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and will visit courses across the United States and around the globe.

During the inaugural 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series season, golfers competed on prestigious courses worldwide, including London’s Centurion Club and Rich Harvest Farms in Chicago.

LIV Golf League has the largest prize purse in history. Each season, a prize purse of 5 million will be shared among individual and franchise winners. Events will not conflict with Major tournaments, heritage events, or international team events.

LIV Golf is taking the game of professional golf into the future. Are you ready to experience everything LIV Golf has to offer? View past LIV Golf League events and other player content on the LIV Golf Plus.
